I recently had the pleasure of staying here at The Sailmaker’s House, it truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was incredibly quiet and quaint, it definitely offered a peaceful hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Even though it wasn’t a bed and breakfast, it had a similar cozy, homey feel.I appreciated the small lobby, which provided a wonderful space to relax. It was stocked with an array of snacks, coffee, and tea, making it a lovely spot to unwind. One of the highlights of our stay was Christmas morning, when we enjoyed playing Rummikub by the beautifully decorated Christmas tree. It really added to the festive atmosphere and made our holiday feel special. Even though we did not have a fridge in the room, there was a fridge in the “lobby” where we could label our own items and use them when needed; this was also a great touch—it made storing snacks and drinks easy and hassle-free. Also, I have to add, this hotel was conveniently located to the Strawbery Banke Museum, Readmoor Books and Brew, many other historical places and restaurants. Overall, this hotel offered a delightful experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, and welcoming place to stay.

This property is a bit strange as there are no staff to greet you on site. Instead you are issued with a keycode for the front door and for your room. This worked extremely well and the insutructions supplied were quite clear and easy to follow. The room was excellent, clean and conmfortable. The common lobby/lounge area had coffee making facilities with plenty of supplies and a number of grab and go items for breakfast. The location is great as it is right next to Strawberry banke which is a local tourist attraction. The center of Portsmouth is a short walk away. I would stay here again.

My husband just loved the bed. He had a great night's sleep. We were within walking distance of most things we had planned for Portsmouth. Although we had no interaction with staff members during the visit, they were VERY responsive via text. Snacks, coffee, water, etc. were available on the first floor. The common area was nice. You don't even need a key or keycard. Just a punch in code. How handy.

Although host available on phone it is always nice to be greeted in person. Lovely property in a great location and very comfortable bed. Had a problem with no hot water in morning but think it’s an old property and everyone must have taken showers at same time. Very well equipped for tea and coffee in lobby with a nice lounge available. Would definitely stay again.

I was delighted to see how nicely this boutique hotel was decorated. It felt welcoming. Getting inside the hotel was simple once I received the instructions by text. The location itself was great and easily walkable to restaurants and bars. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable.
